BICS, an international telecommunications and 5G service provider, has announced the deployment of a new SDN (Software Defined network) controller developed by Nokia to further improve its network performance. This new intelligent module automatically configures the optimal traffic routing, which helps improve overall network performance for consumers and lays the foundation for 5G network slicing. The new SDN controller is customized according to the requirements of BICS specific use cases, and will be used to control the BICS global network capacity and traffic routing. It can not only monitor the routing path of the whole BICS network, but also adjust and optimize the network traffic at any time. 1 With this SDN controller, BICS rapidly improved global network performance and laid the foundation for future 5G use cases, such as bandwidth adjustment calendars and network slicing. In addition, this improved network allocation mechanism can be used both at the application layer, such as providing network slicing for public safety applications, and scheduling according to predefined times, such as monthly "reserved" bandwidth for cloud data backup.
